I have a hard time sleeping through the night and have been told about melatonin. I wake up three or four times a night. Should I get a sleep study done or some other alternative.
Melatonin helps only if its levels are down. Why should you take if you have normal levels? Waking up again and again could be due to snoring as well. My aunt has it and she complains of the same again and again.
Melatonin exclusive is not responsible for quite sleep.
Mind relaxing yogic asanas like Bhramari, Sheetali and shitkari may be helpfull to you.
Tablet Brahmi vati(plain) 1 tab twice daily with milk should be taken.
Time of sleep should be fixed. Try to detach from day time thoughts during sleep.

Waking up three or four times at night might not entirely be due to melatonin deficiency. Melatonin deficiency usually leads to early morning awakening. Anxiety and depression is more likely reason for such insomnia. Consulting a psychiatrist will help in proper diagnosis and treatment.
