Hi doctor....I am Pinkey...i have gone through widal test on 13th january 2014....please clear whether am having typhoid fever or not...in my report Salmonella Typhi(O) value is 1:40 and Samonella Typhi(H) value is 1:160.. what it means please suggest me...

Hi Pinkey,
I understand your concern.
Your widal titer is negative for typhoid fever and does not suggest typhoid fever
I see lot of patients similar to your profile, I would like to tell you that typhoid fever is a clinical diagnosis with blood culture and bone marrow culture as confirmatory tests. Widal is neither specific nor sensitive for typhoid fever, it is helpful only when doctor strongly suspects typhoid and at least two widal tests shows rising titers.
