Is There An Alternative To Combigan For A COPD & Glaucoma Patient?

I have COPD and also severe Glaucoma. My eye doc put me on Combigan, which dropped my pressure from 27 to 13 in both eyes. I have been on it since Oct. 2013, had cataract surgery in Nov. 2013, and he prescribed Prednisolone along with Nevanaco andVigamox to use before and after surgery to keep infection from happening.I have noticed that my breathing is getting worse all the time. I have stopped using all but the Combigan. I have mentioned this to my eye doc but he hasn't changed the Combigan, should I insist that he try something else to see if that helps my breathing, and if I stop them will these sides effects be permanent?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having glaucoma and also having copd and you have also undergone cataract surgery recently.
Combigan consists of timolol and it should not be used in people with COPD as it causes bronchoconstriction and exaggerates symptoms of COPD. Once you stop the drug your symptoms will subside.
It can be replaced by other drugs like prostaglandins like LATANOPROST, or Beta blockers like BETAXOLOL.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor or preferably Glaucoma specialist for prescription of drugs.

Thank you
