Hi, My self Samir. I have a daughter , named Samannayee. She has constipation for long day. She consume lexopeg Powder Sachet, SALTS: Polyethylene Glycol (17gm) for long day. She also suffering in skin rash for long day. Today I came to know it is the side effect of the laxopeg. Please guide me.
Hi. Welcome to HCM forum. Laxopeg contains polyethylene glycol and is used to treat occasional constipation. It works by holding water in the stool to soften the stool and increases the number of bowel movements. It is known as an osmotic-type laxative. Some side effects of this drug are nausea, abdominal cramping, or gas. A very serious allergic reaction may occur sometimes. U are suppose to get medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. The skin rashes which your daughter is having shows she is allergic to laxopeg. Stop the drug and consult a doctor as soon as possible. All the best. Regards
