Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
If a patient has been on Prozac and has experienced a seizure , will this condition be permanent, ie. will the seizures continue to happen once the patient is off the medication? Also, how long does it take for Prozac to leave the system after it is discontinued?
At high dose prozac cause seizure. Seizure will stop after stopping prozac. There is no need to stop it immediately. Gradually decrease the dose of it 20mg per week and then stop it. Half life of prozac is 2-3 days, in that case it would take around two weeks to come out of body. Rest u can consult a psychiatrist for further treatment.
Thanks
