Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I m investigating ketamine for the use as an anti depressant. I m doing this as I was just on a reputable website called the black dog institute for depression and on that website viewed a short video of a doctor promoting the prompt positive effect this drug has for people dealing with depression. Then however I just came to the WWW.WWWW.WW website and viewed the side effects and warnings of ketamine and it says to NOT take it if the patient has had mental or mood problems. This is a complete oxymoron. Can you explain this? No wonder people get skeptical of medicos trying to push us to take tablets!
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
To research on a drug like Ketamine you have to be trained in a reputed medical school for about 6-10years, you can understand how impossible this task is for a layman.
The answer in one word is a "big NO" the ketamine is a drug for dissociative anesthesia and is not an antidepressant.
On unethical and unregulated websites you may see almost anything these days.
Avois these websites, they are heath hazards from out of the blue.
The ketamine is a dangerous drug, should be used only by trained physician or qualified anesthetists.
The drug is sold as drug of abuse in gray markets.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.
Take Care!
