What Are The Symptoms Of Compartment Syndrome?

I have been told by my doctor that I could have compartment syndrom in both of my l lower legs. Reviewing the list of symptoms, I don't have any listed and I have never had an injuries, ect, to my legs. I have had 3 angygrams (veins checks), MRI of my hip, back surgery 3 years ago, physical therapy, stopped taking some of my medications for awhile and still no relief. Some times it feels like someone has taken a mop handle and put it through my foot up to my hip. I have had this condition now for over 5 years. My doctors have referred me to UVA for the testing. Could someone have diagnosticed me incorrectly? The pain started when I would walk about 1/2 block, my lower legs would tighten up so much I had to stop for a few minutes and go a few more yards. Now it is difficult to walk around my house. I'm freaking out, can you suggest anything? Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this issue with compartment syndrome. For sure it is not compartment syndrome. This is an emergency and it could not have been going on for 10years unnoticed. That is simply not true. These symptoms seem related to poor blood flow to the peripheral organs. If you have diabetes, high blood or high cholesterol, this would be the most likely cause. Get this looked into when you go for further testing.

I hope this addresses your query fully. Feel free to ask for clarifications and more information if need be. I wish you well. Thanks for utilizing our services, we very much appreciate it.
