2 Years Child Getting Frequent Cough, Cold And Fever. Diagnosed With Viral Infection. Suggest Effective Medicine
Thanks for posting your query.
Considering the details you have provided , your son is having recurrent respiratory tract infections which are very common in this age group. He seems to be a normal child and growing adequately .
Febrile seizures are fever induced seizures and yes you need to control his fever adequately during each illness . At present the treatment recommended seems appropriate and the dosage of combiflam is also appropriate if given 7.5 ml every 6 hourly .Please remember that febrile seizures are mainly caused by high fever so try to measure his temperature rather than feeling with hands. If the measured temperature is above 100F only then it's actually fever & high fevers are usually above 102F.
Answer 1. Remedy for fever and prevention of seizure .
So if your child has persistence of fever (>/= 100) even after combiflam suspension then you can ask your doctor for an alternative antipyretic medicine like mefenamic acid ( mefanorm, meftal p etc) . It usually controls high fever and the dosage will be same as combiflam . If your child has fever >102 then you can prevent febrile seizures by wiping out his whole body with wet cloth dipped in normal tap water .
This is called external cooling . Some people keep the cloth on forehead but it's better to wipe the whole body for faster cooling .
Answer 2. For boosting his immunity make sure he is adequately vaccinated as per age according to the latest Indian academy of pediatric guidelines which his pediatrician must have advised you . I assume he has been given the pneumococcal vaccine to prevent pneumonia , ear infections and other respiratory infections .
If not then he can still take a single dose( intramuscular injection on buttock or thigh) of that vaccine ( prevenar 13 or pneumovac ) to help him avoid frequent infections
Also teach him hygiene measures like brushing twice daily and frequent hand washing to prevent catching infections .
Answer 3. Overdosage should never be given in children for any medicine .
The present dosage of combiflam is appropriately advised and should not be given more frequently than four times a day ( 6 hourly ).
It's better to give another antipyretic like mefenamic acid in case he still has fever with this dose of combiflam after 2 days of starting treatment . I would recommend you to have patience and wait for a couple of days as its likely that by that time his symptoms will resolve .
Please do not worry , your child is a normal child and is likely to be fine soon .
Please make sure to give him plenty of water and fluids as dehydration during illness often exacerbates the fever.

can you suggest me some medicine to enhance my kid's immunity. and also how to manage these problems during winter as in this season his situation becomes worse.
thank you.
Thanks for posting your query.
The most effective way to boost his immunity would be to give a nutritious diet XXXXXXX in XXXXXXX vegetables , fruits, nuts etc
You can try pediasure added to his milk five scoops daily .it's good for overall immunity and growth and has no sideeffects as such.
There are many multivitamin and Ayurvedic syrups like zincovit , septillin etc which are recommended one teaspoon daily for better immunity.
However it's advisable to use minimum medicinal preparations at such young age as each child may react differently to it.
During winter you should try to avoid too cold water or too cold wind .
Likewise increase his water intake and at the beginning of a cold start giving him steam inhalations and warm salt water throat gargles (only if he will gargle ) thrice daily . Use nose drops to decrease runny nose and keep him warm like putting on socks , caps etc .
Please vaccinate him according to age for better immunity.
