Posted on Mon, 25 Jul 2016
Question: My current Dr retired and I have been taking Adderall since 1990, I have been tested and diagnosed quite a few times over the years with ADD. I am 58yrs old and live in a very small town with only 2 GP Drs. I'm hoping to move South at the end of the summer and don't want to start with a new Primary. How can I get a script until I move?

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Adderall is a DEA Schedule II stimulant, a strictly controlled substance. Any medication, but especially controlled substances, can only be prescribed in-person by a doctor who conducts an in-person exam. Your doctor who retired should have referred you to another physician who can maintain continuity of your medical care. I would reach out to that person, or find a different physician in your area to evaluate you and prescribe Adderall if it is safe.
