Can BCAA Be Taken For Weight Loss?

Question: Over the last 5-6 months I gained weight all of a sudden. All this weight or rather fat weight got added on my tummy area. I used to workout but stopped due to work related pressure and have not been working out for over six months now. I started cycling in the last few days. I ride 3 times a week and ride 25 kms each day in 1hr 10 minutes. Some one advised that since this is an aerobic exercise, it is better to consume BCAA or BRANCHES CHAIN AMIBO ACID which will help in reducing muscle loss and aid in losing fat. Just wanted to confirm if this is true and the dosage of BCAA to take. If these any side effects.

I have gone through your query. Your weight gain is most likely due to sudden stopping of work outs. Restarting the work outs or cycling is helpful in loosing fat and weight loss.

BCAAs area good in loosing fat and gaining lean muscle mass. If you don't use in excess then there won't be any side effects.

Studies have shown that taking BCAAs along with low calorie diet causes greater drop in body fat. Isoleucine a BCAA which helps in increase fat burning and limit fat storage. Leucine another BCAA which helps in reducing hunger. Several studies shown that it decreases tummy fat also.

You can take this before and after work out. You can go with dosage 5 to 10 grams each time before and after work out. But if you want more muscle mass then take one dose before sleeping and one after waking up. This helps in decreasing muscle break down.
