Can Bactrim DS And Elysium Basis Be Taken Together?
Question: May I take Bactrim DS with Elysium Basis, MIT's anti-aging supplement which contains nicotinamide riboside (250 mg) and pterostilbene (50 mg)? I began the antibiotic late this morning for a finger infection and then without thinking took my Basis pills this evening. I am due to take the Bactrim again but am concerned about possible interactions.
Brief Answer:
Yes you can. But both together may lead to acidity.
Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to HealthcareMagic,
Yes you can.
But both together may lead to acidity.
Maybe it is a good idea to finish Bactrim DS course and suspend supplement till then.
Or take Omeprazole 20 twice as long as you take Bactrim DS.
Also Nicotinamide is not in popular use anymore since it can lead to flushing, and its role in increasing HDL the good cholesterol is disputed. Regarding its use as an anti aging vitamin--it is new to me.
Pterostilbene is a powerful anti oxidant and may help in cell rejuvenation like vitamin C, Selenium, B carotene etc.
