Constantly Cold And Discolored Finger, Swollen With Pus. Tried Many Antibiotics, No Help. Alternate Medication ?
I have had this finger infection for over 2 months..my finger is constantly cold and discoloured. I have had 2 different type of antibiotics w/ ointment..its not healing or getting any better, it stays swollen. very small amounts of pus come out when I squeeze it. I now notice that there are small holes under the finger nail..and I have a small amount of (what seems to be flesh)coming from under the finger nail...and my nail is seperating from the skin..PLEASE HELP!!!
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
You seem to be having a 'paronychia' (nail bed infection) with an underlying abscess formation (i.e. an infection with localized collection of pus). You will need a small surgical procedure to drain the abscess and if the nail is also infected, to remove the nail also. Further antibiotics or other ant-inflammatory medication are unlikely to help, and the infection will subside only if the pus is drained out. So, please consult a doctor, preferably a surgeon, for further treatment.
Wish you all the best.
