Can I Take Actalin While Being On Synthoid?

Question: can I take actalin while on synthoid?
Brief Answer:
Unnecessary supplement
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Actalin in a unnecessary thyroid supplement when you are already on synthoid. Please get your TSH and T4 levels checked once in three months, if it is under normal limits then you have nothing to worry about.
If you are excessively fatigued then I recommend that you get Hemoglobin, Vit b12 and Vit D levels checked. Deficiency of these are the most common reasons of generalised weakness
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards

I didn't get the answer until now, after I called. I asked about Atalin because it contains iodine that synthoid doesn't provide. Do you think iodine will help with my fatigue? Some doctors said that regular blood test for t3 and t4 level cannot accurately show the hypothyroidism level. Can you recommend other kind of tests that are more reliable?
Brief Answer:
Get T3 and T4 done
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for getting back and sorry for not being thorough
Iodine supplements only help in patients who have hypothyroidism due to iodine deficiency, it is mostly seen in patients living is hilly regions. It is not seen these days as most of our food products especially salt is iodized. You can go ahead and take the supplement but it won't be beneficial.
A more accurate method of measuring thyroid function would be to measure free t3 and free t4. Get it done once in 3 months
