Can Lidocaine Be Used For Buttock Pain After Spinal Stenosis?

Question : Would a lignocaine patch be helpful for pain in the buttock from spinal stenosis? The pain comes on after standing for a few minutes or walking a few yards around the house! I am waiting for a steroid spinal injection. I am pain free when sitting or lying and have tried tens and sciaticalm.

cannot say in your particular case.

Detailed Answer:
Lidocaine of course works on all nerves. It can even paralyze because of this. The only issue is if enough of it can get to the right place. Certainly wtih injection directly INTO the spine, it is likely to do something (extremely temporarily). The patch has certainly worked on many people with lumbar disk disease. The question is if it can hit the right spot given that most of the nerve is deep in and the patch's drug does not penetrate all that well.

Try many spots all along the entire path of pain from at the spine next to the spine and even out at the hip and buttock. It will take an entire day for the drug to fully get in. So one day per spot to see if it could work.
