I would like to know if these are safe to take during pregnancy. Thanks.
Brief Answer:
Yes, you can take these medications.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting hcm about your health care.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I can understand your concerns.
I have gone through your history and medication and in my opinion you can continue this treatment along with pregnancy.
As such no drug is safe during pregnancy but these drugs are FDA approved category B and C which means that no studies shows adverse effects on foetus, so you can take these drugs because they are useful in reducing symptoms of artheritis.
Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more questions.
Good luck.
Regards

Hello Dr. XXXXXXX
Thanks for your message.
I visited my doctor today and she has advised me not to carry on with the pregnancy due to the RA medicines which i'm taking and the salts in it are not safe during pregnancy and can lead to adverse effects on the baby what they have studied on drugs.com.
I also even consulted another doctor in the city and she is also not sure and have left the decision on me because she is also of the same opinion that these drugs should not be taken.
Although the study shows 3 out of 100 children can have problems but accordingly this ratio is also very high and they are not recommending being both of them a family doctor.
I'm really confused as to what should I do because the doctor whom i'm consulting for RA is not available and will be available on Monday i.e. 6th July, 2015.
Kindly suggest what should I do?
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks
Best Regards

Brief Answer:
You should take opinion of your doctor for arthritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Sorry for the long delay in my response.
I was badly stuck somewhere.
As of my knowledge and experience that you have to take some medication to control your arthritis during pregnancy and these drugs are not very safe for your baby.
But as of my opinion you want this baby also, so you have to take a chance and you should consult your treating rhematologist about drug dosing during pregnancy.
As such in my knowledge these drugs are not very safe( as category B and C drugs) but can be given during pregnancy.
Second level ultrasound can see whether any ill effects of drugs on your baby or not and you can continue it or not.
So it is better to take a decision with keep all the things in your mind.
Hope it is useful.
Good luck.
