Can Trajenta Address IR?
Question: does the drug "Trajenta" address Insulin resistanc? Apparently my family doctor is concerned about the black box warning. However the FDA recommends to stay on Avandia if the patient has been on Avandia for a long time w/o any problems.
Brief Answer:
Tradjenta is a DPP-4 which does not address insulin resistence
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
You are wondering about Tradjenta as a possible treatment for your mother with diabetes. Tradjenta is a medication called a DPP-4 which stimulates the pancreas to make more insulin and inhibits the liver from making more glucose. It is not in the same class as avandia and does not have a black box warning. You can use both tradjenta and avandia together as there is no contraindications and they work on different areas of diabetes
