Can Feces Build Up Be Missed On A CT Scan Test?
Feces can not be missed on CT scan
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/41 - constipated for weeks due to dehydration - sphincter would not relax - extreme pressure in back and intestinal area - as if feces coming out in abdominal cavity - feels like over time it started to build up - wants to know whether this can be seen on CT or can be easily missed ...
No, this can be missed even on X-ray, never on CT scan.
Feces will be easily seen on a CT scan .
If present I would advise you the following:
Saline and soap water enema helps the best to clear the bowels.
Per-rectal digital examination and proctoscopy examination, preferably by a General Surgeon can help to find out the status of the sphincters and any other additional information for correct further management.
Colonoscopy can add on further information.
I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
I've had a CT scan but if a layer like this can be missed I need to get more opinions because it is life altering.
A layer like this can not occur, never occurs.
Detailed Answer:
Bowel fluid leakage is a very serious condition and is a surgical emergency; hence can not occur. Hence there is no question about forming a solid layer or to be seen on any investigations including a CT scan.
