Can Stress Causes Headache, Pain In Neck, Back, Nausea And Fatigue?

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Jun 2016
Question: I've had an ongoing headache since last Friday. I have neck and back pain as well. I get bilateral sharp mid level pains in my back when I walk (when my heal strikes the ground). I am a bit nauseated but able to eat. No issues drinking fluids. I am also very tired. Is this something that warrants visiting my Dr? I am going through a lot of stress.... Could this be from stress, if it could be, how should I treat it at home? I have taken APAP & ibuprofen giving me some relief, but not full relief.

Brief Answer:
Get medication as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Headache with nausea may be stress related or due to migraine too.
Is there any fever, loss of consciousness, seizures, visual loss, hearing abnormalities?
For stress you can take amitryptiline at night.
Pain killers can be continued like Naproxen or Aceclofenac for few days.
Consult a doctor if not improving in 2-3 days or symptoms worsen.
No need for any imaging at present.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.

I initially had popping & pressure in 1 ear, I did some nasal flushes & that seemed to resolve the ear issues. The headache is from my neck and encompasses my entire head. I did get a massage with some initial relief but pain was back in 1-2 hrs. I have no history of migraines & its not dibilitating. I am most concerned with my lack of energy, i am usually working out 2-3 hrs a day & now just taking the stairs make me tired. My joints ache as well. I have had epstein barr in the past (2007-2008) after i returned from a deployment (im active duty military... The energy issue reminds me of that. Can that reoccur?)

Brief Answer:
Start treatment, get examined and investigated for joint pain and fatigue

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Headache may be chronic tension type or migraine related. Amitriptyline can be taken at night.
Fatigue, joint pain are not usually directly related to headache and needs to be evaluated by a physician. Possibility of some nutritional deficiency, renal or liver disease or cardiac illness to be considered.
Administration of multivitamin can be tried, but better to get examined and investigated.
Possibility of epstein barr virus related symptoms is unlikely.
