Hello,

the vaccine won't make the outbreak less severe. There is a special vaccine for shingles but it does not help during the outbreak either. If you're having frequent problems with shingles you can do the vaccine (zostavax).

For the current outbreak antivirals may be required (acyclovir or the likes). Painkillers may help with the symptoms.
