Child Is 10 Month Old And Experiencing Fever. Can Adol Suppository Be Given?
Question: My baby is almost 10 months old and 9.5kg and she's been experiencing fever of 38.9. Can we give her adol suppository? We already gave her adol and drops and profinal

The maximum dose of Paracetamol or Acetaminophen which is present in Adol is 15mg per kilogram of body weight. So this is the maximum dosage that can be given in a single dose what ever may be the route of administration (either oral or per rectal in the form of suppository). So if you have already given oral drops of adol then you cannot give rectal suppository. You should wait for a minimum of 4 hours for the next dose. You can give a maximum of 4 doses in a day. (A baby weighing around 10kg can be given around 150 mg of paracetamol or adol. The dose may be repeated after 4 hours)
If the fever does not subside even after giving those two medications then tepid sponging may be required. Fever normally subsides after giving paracetamol, ibuprofen and tepid sponging.
