Chronic Cough, Wheezing & Brownish Sputum With Metallic Taste. Had Punctured Lung After An Injury Long Back.
Question: I have had a chronic cough for several months, wheezing and brownish sputum with metallic taste. I had a punctured lung 5 years ago, from a motorcycle accident.
Hello,
From your description, it appears that you have a lung infection.
The history of punctured lung is important though you have not elaborated on it.
It is possible that the scar in the injured part of lung is now infected, and in the absence of proper treatment has become chronic.
You should get a blood count, chest x-ray and if required a CT scan of chest done.
You will also need a course of adequate antibiotics for sufficient duration.
Symptomatic treatment for fever, cough and wheezing in the form of antibiotics and nebulization will also be required.
You may consult a pulmonologist for proper directions.
Please feel free to ask any further queries that you may have.
Wish you speedy recovery.
