Is A CT Scan Necessary For The Blockage In Sinuses?

Hi. My husbands X-ray showed that his sinuses are completely blocked and he should have ct scan done because there s concern of spreading to his brain. He s had headaches everyday for about 6 months and it was a hassle to even get X-ray done. The doctor said just to try antibiotics first and sprays before doing a ct. 3 days so far no better and they want to change pills. Should we be pushing for ct scan?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

That's right before going for CT must have a Full medical treatment with Morning evening Nasal

1. Steam inhalation with Karvol-> Clean the nose then
2. Decongestant Nose drop followed by Azolastin / Fluticasone combination spray, oral antibiotics, anti histamines and NSAID for 5 days

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
