Condom Broke During Sex. Took I Pill. What Is Success Rate Of IPill? Chances Of Pregnancy?

1. I know your ans would be that I have to wait and see as I mentioned already that her periods will start soon. I don't know exactly but there is some phenomenon like if you have sex within some particular time spam (in the middle of month of period) than there is high chance of getting pregnant, and this will decrease subsequently, correct me if I am wrong. Now, I had sex at this time where periods are coming soon, how are the chances that pregnancy will occur.
2. Taking contraceptive pill is the only method we can rely upon at this point of time or there are some other methods also that can be helpful in this? Also, what is success rate of iPill?
3. There may be situation like periods got delayed (due to any reason), how can I come to know that this is not beacuse of the sex I had and after how much time we can take pregnancy test?
Less likely to be pregnancy....
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
At the outset, let me assure you that the chances of pregnancy is least likely.
Now individual answers to your query.
1. We are able to predict the safe and unsafe zones of menstrual cycle if women have periods at regular interval. This roughly is around 14 days prior to her expected due dates. In your partner if her periods are between 30-35 days duration, the most fertile days roughly would be 16 to 24 days from her last menstrual period.
As she has well past the most fertile days, the chances of fruitful coitus is very minimal now.
2. The chances of pregnancy is least likely even without I pill. Addition of i pill gives added prevention in this case. You need not depend on any other means to avoid pregnancy now.
3. I pill statistically is known to be more than 98% effective when taken within 24 hours following sexual intercourse. The effectiveness lowers to between 90 - 95% when the pill is taken between 24 to 48 hours. 80% is the preventing capabilities of i-pill if it is taken between 48 to 72 hours. Beyond 72 hours, the i-pill is not reliable.
4. Though I can assure you that the chances of pregnancy is close to zero, I cannot make you realize this is not due to pregnancy with tests other than urine pregnancy test at this point of time. And for accurate results, I recommend my patients to perform the test if they miss due dates. If you are not fully convinced with my reply, you can get this test done after her due dates.
Hope I answered all your questions as per your expectations. Feel free to ask your doubts before closing this discussion.

First of all, thanks a lot for your detailed reply. I was going to give you best rating and then I realized that discussion has been closed. Once again, thanks for that.
Now, please help me out of this situation.
My partner was expecting her periods yesterday (according to previous month calculations, this is expected between 30-35 days) however till this time she has not received any good response from her body), this is making both of us very nervous. iPill was taken on same day, as I mentioned earlier also. Could you please answer below mentioned queries:
1. What might be the reason that she is not getting periods, I read on internet that these pills can prepon the date of periods, however in our case this is not happening.
2. We did pregnancy test today (we had sex on Saturday, and its been 3 days after we checked) fortunately it came out negative (we did this because "period day" has passed). Is it okay to test at this point of time or do we need to wait for some more time and test again so to get better picture?
3. Since this test came out negative, does it mean that she will not receive pregnancy after this time also (till the time we get involved in another intercourse)?
Please reply ASAP..
I pill can postpone periods too...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Pleased to know that you found our last conversation helpful. Now to answer your individual questions:
1. I pill use can cause break through period which are mistaken for early period. However when this pill is taken late in the menstrual cycle, it acts like a pill taken to delay periods as in your partner's case. Therefore I see most women report late periods
2. Pregnancy test is known to be very accurate when the test is performed after the due dates. I'll take the result of the last test. But if you wish to reconfirm then you can repeat the test after 3 days.
3. As described above, the chances of pregnancy is almost nil according to me. She can wait for next 3 days to reconfirm with the second pregnancy test.
Hope this helps. Please close this discussion after all your doubts are clarified.
