Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been detected to have hupointense mass in Rt kidney.

Any hypo dense mass in kidney is suggestive of Renal Cell Carcinoma unless proved otherwise .The diagnosis is supported by is confirmed by contrast enhancement study .

ill defined mass in kidney are usually malignant in nature .Complex cysts with multiple and thick septa are usually are due to malignancy (Renal Cell Carcinoma ).

It is possible that a mass that shows enhancement on a cat scan could be a complicated cyst that is now benign, with the possibility of becoming cancerous? Also, is it possible for an ill defined mass to be benign before becoming cancerous?

Complex cyst with contrast enhancement are unlikely to be benign in nature ,They always represent REnal Cell Carcinoma.


Benign renal masses are always with well defined walls without any septi and calcification .
