Do Periods Stop Suddenly During Menopause?

Question: I am 50 years old & haven't had a period in 2 months, I am not able to be pregnant as I have no philopian tubes, so do periods suddenly stop with menopause? I do have an uncomfortable feeling in my lower stomach region.
Brief Answer:
Sometimes periods do stop suddenly with menopause.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
The periods become irregular as one is nearing 50 years. This is because of the decline in ovarian reserve of eggs. As ovulation becomes erratic periods also become erratic.
You may get your period every 3-6 months in this year. Rarely periods suddenly stop and this is normal also. So don't get worried.
The uncomfortable feeling in your lower stomach is probably because you may start your period shortly or it may not be related to periods at all.
I hope this helps. If you have further queries, I will be happy to answer.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama
