Does Helicobacter Pylori Infection Cause Stomach Pain And Bad Breath?
i have syomach helicobacter pylori
it has been with me for long time
i did the breath testing and it was positive 185
i took the medication 2 times and every time i redo the test and still positive
i do not know what to do
I need to know your clinical symptoms...
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.
If the breathe testing for H.pylori persists to be positive, it means that:
- you are a chronic carrier
- the treatment did not succeed to eradicate this infection
A more accurate testing is during the biopsy taken during upper endoscopy and culture of bioptic material for H.pylori.
Next, it is important to know your actual symptoms? Are you having heartburn? nausea? bloating? or any other symptoms you might have?
Although patients might be testing positive for H.pylori, if they are not having any symptom, I do not recommend any further treatment. Otherwise, a complete therapy of 4 different medications is advised.
Hope it was of help!

Upper endoscopy advised to evaluate stomach lesion
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
Thank you for providing the requested information.
You are reporting to be experiencing symptoms of h.pylori gastritis. Upper endoscopy is advised to evaluate current changes in the mucosa of the stomach or duodenum.
Furthermore, I need to know what medications you have used so far, in order to determine the other treatment strategy.
The aim is to eradicate the infection and treat related stomach issues.

ok i will go for endoscopy but not now
for the medication i don not remember last time was some months ago.
i just remember it was antibiotic for 10 days then continue with another medicine till the end of the month
i remember 2nd round antibiotic was klacid
Upper endoscopy is advised to run first before deciding for therapy
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
To my opinion, it is better to get an upper endoscopy first and to evaluate the changes. After we have the results, we can discuss about possible treatment.
Before running upper endoscopy, it is advised to stop taking PPIs for at least 2 weeks prior to testing as will cause false negative results.
If Klacid was not effective in treating your H.pylori gastritis, then, I advise to start another therapy scheme including: bismuth subsalicylate, metrondidazole, doxycycline, ranitidine or rabeprazole. Another treatment is levofloxacin plus esomeprasol plus amoxicillin for 10-14 days.
All the best!

for the therapy course you advised at tge end, can i start it now or should i wait until i do endoscopy
Following answers to your queries....
Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXX,
PPIs are called the proton pump inhibitors drugs. They include Omeprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole, etc. They cause inhibition of acidic production by the stomach, thus, improving the symptoms you are currently having.
I advise to run endoscopy first, then, to start PPIs therapy.
All the best!
