Does Exposure To Aromasin Cause Missed Period?

default
Posted on Fri, 10 Jun 2016
Question: My 15 year old daughter and 13 year old son MAY have accidentally been exposed to Aromasin a year ago.

My daughter has seen a Pediatrician and Gynecologist. The docs feel that she starves herself but she has a 20% body fat and is overly active tennis player.

Estradiol level 11.8,

She has missed her period for the last 10 months. That time frame coincides with when I was on it.

Can she be helped if she was exposed Aromasin?

Will she ever start her period? Menses?

Brief Answer:
Low estrogen

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern.
May I know her weight ( in kilograms) and height ( in centimeters).
Underweight persons and people who over exert may have absent periods.

If she was exposed to Aromasin, there is a probability that estrogen levels were low in her and that also can cause absent periods. Has she grown very tall in the last 10 months?? Absence of estrogen delays fusion of bone ends and make them grow tall. Has her breast size reduced in the last 10 months ( during the possible Aromasin exposure period) ?

It is good to do a fasting LH, FSH, Estradiol, Thyroid profile, Estrogen, CBC, Liver profile, renal function profile and Fasting blood glucose levels to assess further. This will help as to answer about periods.

Thank you. Thank you.
Copy of labs attached.

My daughter's current treating physicians are Peditrician and a Gynecologist in a small town. I asked for an Endocrinology referral and was told it was "not necessary".

Based on your answer. I will push for an Endocrinology referral and any extra labs you recommend.

Her hips are developing but her breasts are slowing down or have not gone past the nipple buds.
5'3 and has stayed the same for past 12 months
110lbs and has stayed the same.

Also; her current GYN feels she starves herself. She did lose 17lbs around 10-11 months ago.

This web site scared me.

Thank ou again for your consideration. y

Brief Answer:
Reports not found

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Noted your reply. With a height of 5`3 and weight of 110 lbs, her BMI is 19 which is not too bad. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the blood reports . Did you attach them? Please do not worry about the ACOG statement about aromatase inhibitors. An endocrinologist can fix your daughter's problem.

Binu
