Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be arthritis.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that in females arthritis may not present with hip pain as first manifestation . This is highly unlikely .

Assigning a reason as to why its occuring is very difficult but an X ray of hip joints is required to rule out sacroilitis . Sometimes spondyloarthropathy can present with hip pain . If you get low backache or any of your family members suffer from some kind of arthritis or history of psoriasis or inflammatory bowel disease then its a reason to evaluate further a these are rare types of arthritis presenting with hip pain .

Any other associated feature if you could tell will be very helpful in guiding your further.

Take care.

Dr. Shruti
