Does Septoplasty Change The Appearance Of Nose?
I need to do a surgery of Septoplasty, bilateral turbinoplasties and removal of concha bullosa. I'm so concerned about the appearance of my nose, may this surgery change my nose, make it bigger for example? and will it be better if I do it with ENT and plastic surgeon doctor?
My other question is that I have tinnitus in my left ear, it's like inside my left head more than ear, started 4 days after nose hit, is that related?
Many Thanks
An ENT surgeon should perform the septoplasty
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
The Septoplasty should be performed by an ENT surgeon. The appearance of your nose may not be altered, however hand on findings such as hypertrophied turbinate or excess septum removal may lead to minimal alterations. The nose wont be bigger after this procedure. If you are concerned about the appearance of your nose, you can consult a plastic surgeon for procedures like rhinoplasty. The rhinoplasty or nose modification/correction/reconstruction can also be performed by an ENT surgeon as part of this procedure so that burden of two operative procedures is avoided. The tinnitus is most likely related to the DNS and is related to blockade of the Eustachian tube. Trauma could have exacerbated the tinnitus. The septoplasty will help in relieving the obstructive symptoms and tinnitus , both.
wishing you best of health
