Does Taking Vitamin B6 And Glutamine Powder Help With Neuropathy?
Question: I read a response by Dr. Martee L. Hensley about Neuropathy From Chemotherapy. I still experience mild neuropathy in my fingers but much more neuropathy in my feet and toes after 12 chemo treatments that ended a month ago. My feet get so cold and feel like I am walking on blocks of ice that I have to warm up; then I just feel tingles in my toes and the bottoms of my feet. My Oncologist prescribed 200 mg of vitamin B6 and 5,000 mg of glutamine powder in liquid daily to help prevent Neuropathy from Chemotherapy. My Oncologist told me that the neuropathy would improve in a few months (as Dr. Hensley indicated in her response) so it sounds like I should expect the same outcome with or without the B6 and glutamine powder. Is there any basis for taking them to help prevent neuropathy?
Brief Answer:
pregabalin tablets
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Since your feets get cold and you feel like you are walking on blocks of ice after 12 chemotherapy treatments you are suffering from peripheral neuropathy.
This neuropathy is very common after chemotherapy and I will suggest pregabalin tablets 150 mg twice daily after food for you for 3 months.
The neuropathy does not go away easily and it takes about 3 to 6 months of time after completion of chemotherapy for it to completely go away.
There is no basis of taking the vitamin B6 and glutamine powder to prevent neuropathy.
Hope I have answered your query.
