Does Water Retention Cause Weight Gain?
Thank you.
Details of evaluation needed.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Prior to answering your question I would like to know how you got the figure?
By weight, the average human adult male is approximately 60% water. There can be considerable variation in body water percentage based on a number of factors like age, health, weight, and sex. In a large study of adults of all ages and both sexes, the adult human body averaged ~65% water. So, if in your case the water content is really 50%, it probably means other parameters are in excess and therefore further evaluation would be necessary. Alternatively, you could have dehydration and would need fluid replenishment and would need to drink plenty of ORS (oral rehydration solution) and other fluids.
Let me know if I could help further.
