Getting Blurred Vision And Pain In Eyebrow When Pressed. What Could Be The Problem And Its Cure?

Question: It all started with a mild blurred vision on monday when i started working in front of my system.I was unable to focus anything in the longer distance immediately when i looked out of my computer. The focusing took time. I went to an eye doctor and checked my eyes and he told its just dry eyes and asked me to take ocular drops for 2 days and get back to him. I was not even able to focus on anything and my eye straimed too much when i just do any work concentrated.Reading books also made my eyes strained. Next day when i started looking at my system it gone worse, and it looked more blurred . Al objects at all distance looked little blurred. With a cooling glass on my eyes, the blur seems to be lessen. I told the eye doctor about the same and he suggested me to wear an an anti-glare specs with 0.25 and 0.5 power on my left and right eye respectively for a month and get back to him. But the next day, my vision was too blurred and felt like my head spinning for some time, and lost balance toofor some time. After that my vision started improving and i was able to look at my computer without much problem. I could read , watch Tv, do everything without much problem, but witha slight blur and my head started aching in a particular point in my left eyebrow. now i dont have much pain, but when i touch that particular point in my eyebrow, i have the pain. My eyes have become sensitive for the light and i still have that blurred vision and that spot ache in my left eyebrow when i touch it. I could feel there is a small swelling in the left eyebrow on that spot.
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for the query.
From your description it looks like transient blurring of vision.I would like some more details from you.Do you suffer from sinusitis? Do you have any history of migraine? How many hours per day do you spend in front of the computer? Was your eye pressure checked during your eye check up?
I will wait for your reply.
Best regards,
Dr.Mihir Shah

Thanks for you reply.
When i was 17, I had a severe headache.Everyday when i come back from school to home for my lunch, I had severe headache. After reaching home i literally fell down.
When i consulted with my doctor then, he told me that was sunus problems, and i took almost injection for a month, everday to get rid of that problem. Since then , I never had such headaches in these years. I still doubt weather that was sinusitis or migraine.
My pressure was tested and they said it was normal during my eye check up.
I usually spend 6 to 7 hours in fromt of computer everyday. During last 2 months it has been increased upto 12 hrs .
As you said it is transient, my blurred vision(slight) and sensitivity to light will go off soon ? Should I wear the specs as suggested ?

Thanks for replying back.
I feel you should cut down your hours in front of the computer. This will reduce eyestrain.
Please follow the below mentioned advice.
Monitor should be placed about 2-3 feet from the eyes (or at the farthest comfortable distance).
Do not gaze constantly at the monitor for long duration. Take your eyes off the screen every 5-10 minutes.
Every half an hour or so close your eyes for 1-2 minutes to give them rest.
Every hour or so take a 5 minutes break (go for a stroll or run some errand).
Make a conscious effort to blink more frequently. Avoid sitting in front of an air conditioner facing its air draft while working on computer.
Do Convergence Exercises
Regular eye exercise can help prevent the problems caused by working on computers or even heavy reading or writing work. These exercises are advised for all computer professionals, students, office workers, etc.
Sit on a chair upright and look at a far off samll object.
Then hold out a pen at level with your eyes at an arm's length and look at its tip.
Gradually bring the pen close to your eyes to a point where you feel a mild strain on your eyes. The tip of the pen should remain clear and single in appearance. Hold the pen in this position for about half a minute and then again gradually take it back to an arms length. Hold it here again for about half a minute, and then again bring the pen close to your eyes.
Repeat above step 10 times and then again look the far off small object. Again repeat the whole sequence.
In the beginning this exercise should be done for 5-10 minutes just once a day in the morning at a time when you are fresh and rested. After one week it should be increased to twice daily and after two weeks thrice a day. Avoid doing the exercise when you are tired or are having pain in eyes or headache. In the initial period when you begin exercising the pain in the eyes and headache may increase, but this should not discourage you. As you continue the exercise you will gradually feel relief from the symptoms over 2-3 weeks.
Continue the exercise for 2 months to build good eye muscle strength and reserve power.
Use Lubricant Eye Drops
Lubricant eye drops instilled 3-4 times a day help in soothing the eyes and relieving irritation and redness. Many preparations are available in the market e.g. Tears Plus, Hypotears Plus, Moss, Moisol, etc.
Anti-glare glasses do not provide any relief. So you can discontinue your glasses.
I hope I have answered your query. Please write to me if you have any furthur queries.
