Had Breast Reduction Surgery. Noticed Several Small Protruding Stitches. Is There Any Risk For Infection?
Question: Had breast reduction surgery 4 weeks ago this Monday. Steri tape was removed 2 days ago, since then I have noticed several small protruding stitches (dissolvable). Is it okay to snip? Tried to call my plastic surgeon, but the office does not open until Monday, today is Saturday. Will leaving it alone until, I can reach my plastic surgeon, put me at risk for infection?
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for putting up your problem to us.
I would advise not to snip the protruding stitch because these stitches are under some tension and if you snip it , it may result in gaping which can result is scars and which can further cause distortion of breasts.
Anyway the stitches are there for quite short time.
Let them remain there for a better result
I hope that answers your query.
