Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for your query

I can feel your concerns

This rash seems to be a form of dermatitis , which is spreading .
You can upload a picture of that rash .
kindly apply Zinc Oxide supplement on the rash Along with hydrocortisone.

1. Is there any family history of allergy?
2. Dose your child is having fever?

I hope this Answer will be helpful to you.

Thanks Doc
I myself do have seasonal allergies. We are living in Germany and mine were so bad the first year here that I had to get an inhaler for the first time in my life at age 33. He has had bouts with a goopy eye as well with the rash. He was diagnosed with eczema however it is not occurring in typical location like hands wrists ankles and elbows. His lymph nodes were swollen all of this occurring before and after a major respiratory infection( with X-rays showing spots both lungs). The rash isn't too bad doesn't seem to bother him too much or itch but it's on his leg now as well around his diaper. I am concerned about viral rash and his immune system if this isn't related to the bacterial infection he had. He has no fever currently but was 103 when he had respiratory infection. It's very mild sometimes like sandpaper and other times raised and red. It's in patches not measle like

Thanks for your follow up

If there is family history of allergy then it means that most likely he has allergic dermatitis along with super added bacterial infection.
For this you have to give her anti-allergic drugs along with antibiotics and local application of hydrocortisone.

For work up of immunosuppression kindly consult your pediatrician .
Get his Complete blood count along with immunoglobulin levels.

Thanks doctor. I think we have narrowed it down possibly. There are two times my wife has put a new polyester blend pajama on him. He has really sensitive skin as it is and the polyester(his grandmother has latex allergy) may cause the breakouts since it is tight fitting. My wife supposedly had a polyester allergy when she was a child so I'm hoping that 100% cotton will clear this up. He has been sick as well probably unrelated to rash

Its my pleasure.

So, most probably it could be atopic dermatitis due to polyester use. Avoid it and use cotton instead.
Meantime, you should get the diagnosis confirmed by consulting your pediatrician.

Hope this will be helpful.

I have uploaded 2 pictures. There is a spot on his elbow and that is how the rashes on his torso were until they broke up and spread out. The one on the elbow looks like typical eczema or atopic dermatitis like the doctor said but the way the others have spread on his torso confuses me. They don't seem to itch and are mild but due to his recent infections and the fact that his lymph nodes were swollen I am just being a worried parent. I had the doctor look at it earlier when rash resembled the one on his elbow but not since they spread.

Hi,

Do not worry this rash will settle down , not a serious issue.

This diagnosis can be confirmed by a dermatologist and treatment plan can be made

Swelling of lymph node imply a recent infection if lymph node size is bigger than 1 cm.
Wishing him a speedy recovery .
