How Can Spontaneous Subconjunctival Hemorrhage Be Treated?
Question: Should I be worried about a what appears to be a blood vessel in my eye that seems to have burst?
Brief Answer:
normally resolves on its own
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
It may be spontaneous subconjunctival hemorrhage. It is common and usually is not associated with symptoms.
There is an excellent prognosis since it tends to resolve on its own within a week for most persons.
As the blood breaks down, it will change color.
If the eye feels irritated then you can use artificial tears to help ease your discomfort.
If you are using aspirin, other NSAIDs (eg naproxen, ibuprofen etc) or clotting medication (eg warfarin), then this may need to be temporarily stopped.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
