How Long Does Adderall XR Stay In The System?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I am prescribed 30 mg of Adderall xr by my psychiatrist. I may have to take a drug screen soon to show compliance. my question is this: how many days in advance and on the day of the test do I have to take a pill to show compliance. I only have 2 left before the test. will I pass....or would I be okay if I just took one on the day of the test and skipped the dose the day before the test?
Brief Answer:
You need one week of intake to show compliance
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
Adderal have half life of 10 hours and needs around one week of tegular use to achieve steady state concentration.
This level is important to ensure compliance through commonly used tests.
I hope this answers you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.

if it has a half life of 10 hours, that means it takes 72 hours to exit your urine. is that correct????? if I am going to take a urine 10 panel drug screen, wouldn't it be just 3 days before or 72 hours that I need to take a pill??????? i'm confused as to how you arrived at one entire week prior. thxxxxxxxx whatever you take prior to 3 days has already exited your urine. am I wrong>?????? thxxx

You are not wrong theoretically but...
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.
You are right in saying that one time use results in negative test after 72 hours of use of adderal.
But there is condition here. The tests used for compliance have somewhat high threshold than what is used for drug screening. This means that a certain level is necessary to get OK in regard to compliance.
If we use adderal over a period of one week we get that level otherwise you may test negative resulting despite presence of medication in system resulting in drop from medical treatment or other punitive measures.
I hope this clarifies.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for my future patients.
