How Long Does Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma Take To Respond To Chemotherapy?
Question: My father is having cancer of type Anaplastic Thyroid carcinoma.. He was given 3 cycles of Chemotherapy... medicine given was Paclitaxel 260 mg, Carboplatin 450 mg ...After two months of treatment, we are not seeing any significant change in the reports... Could you please help..
Brief Answer:
It responds poorly to chemo
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns.
Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma is difficult to treat. It usually does not respond well to chemo or radiotherapy. You have not mentioned that there is no change, does that mean stable disease? If it is even stable, then we can take it as response and continue the chemo.
If disease is increasing, then we can try doxorubicin chemo. There some case reports of sorafenib or everolimus producing some responses and can be tried as well.
But overall result is not good.
I am really sorry I could not suggest much but that is the reality in this disease.
Regards
