How To Become Taller?

Question: My son is age 15 years 5 months. His growth chart is attached. He is only 5'3" . I am 5'4, and husband is 5"11. We thought he would be between 5'7 to 5'10 but now looks like he will only be 5'4 or 5'5. At age 14 we had has bone age done and it showed to be 16. All of his growth hormone levels normal. He is seeing an endrocronogist who did not recommend growth hormones because he was to far along with puberty. He is taking letrozole to help slow fusing of the bones. Is there anything else we can do to help him get taller? I dont want to take him to another doctor unless there is something that will work because he is becoming very self conscious about his height. Thank you.

As the skeletal maturity will attain at the age between 20 to 24 years of age. As your son is now at 15 running, chance of gaining height is more.

Certain Yogasanam (yoga) will trigger the pituitary gland and may help in the secretion of growth hormone and increase the bone metabolism that facilitate in increase in height with proper nutrition.
As stretching exercise is a part of yogasanam will also help.

Thank you, I had considered yoga and your specifics will help me find him the right instructor. Are there specifics foods he should eat or avoid? Does he need to be on a gluten free or milk free diet.

I really appreciate your concern.

Generally non veg foods are not appreciated while practicing classical yoga for better results.

No gluten restriction or milk food restriction (unless he is allergic to it or has history of celiac).
However, full steamed cereals, millets, grains always preferable - it is easy to digest.
Avoid/minimize the frequency of taking fried item, half baked and container foods.

I know it is really hard to follow while residing in United states; but try to follow as much as possible.

Protein foods like almond, peanut, soya can be added in his regular diet. Add more fruits and vegetables what ever kind - that is more recommended.

As he is a growing boy he can take as much as quality nourished healthy food, preferably natural food. Avoiding junk foods, fried items, caffeinated drinks is highly appreciated. Because taking this kind of food will lead many physical and mental problems in a long course.

People form XXXXXXX who walk into my clinic really do not follow the dietary instructions closely. In this context, I really respect and appreciate your efforts about diet. But recent studies in western countries accepted food to have a great influence in our body mechanism. Therefore try to be as religious as possible with the diet.

Thank you for your help. I try never to feed my children processed foods and buy organic meats and vegetables whenever I can. He does drink carbonated beverages when not at home so I will have him stop. This has been helpful and I will rank you highest. Thanks
