How To Loose Weight?

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Jan 2015
Question: I need to lose about 30 pounds. If I don't eat anything for 2-3 hours, my glucose drops drastically (I am not diabetic.) I also have trouble exercising because I have arthritis in my knees. Are there foods that make you feel full longer, and keep you from crashing for a greater length of time?

Weight loss diet

You are requesting assistance with losing weight. You have been trying to lose weight by reducing your calories but then you experience low blood sugars. How low have your blood sugars been dropping?

Unfortunately there are no fast ways to lose weight nor any special foods that aid in losing weight. No matter what diet you eat it all must come down to calories eaten vs. the calories burned off.

For you I recommend a 1600-1800 calorie diet. You can eat 4-5 small meals during the day that will help maintain your blood sugars. Make sure you actually count your calories and even those you drink. Coffee with creamer has a large amount of calories and does not last long to satisfy your hunger.

With the diet, exercise and I do not usually recommend joining a gym you can just do simple walking. Try increasing your walking from 30 mins to 60 mins a day. You can break down the tome to 20 mins three times a day as long as the total amount of exercise is still 60 mins and do it daily. Skipping the exercise only allows your body to not burn off your calories.

Be positive and work toward your goals.

Good Luck

The first time I crashed, I had access to a glucometer and my glucose was 44. I've felt the symptoms of crashing many times since - shaking, sweating, disoriented.

Brief Answer:
Hypoglycemia diet

Detailed Answer:

Since you have significant problems with hypoglycemia it will be real important that you eat small meals several times a day. That means eating 4-5 times a day and eating small amount of calories. In other words you need to eat about 200-300 calories every 4 hours. Eating any more will cause you to gain weight and may cause your blood sugars to plummet. This will take some real effort on your part. There is no medication that will help control your blood sugars and prevent hypoglycemia.

I hope this answers your question. Please contact me again with your health concerns or questions.
