Question: Hello Doc ! I'm a 23 year old female. My basic problem is my weight. I weigh 72 kgs and my height is 170 cm. Please give me some ideas to lose weight. I want to lose weight to feel better about myself. Right now, am on a diet. I'v started taking lot of fruits and avoided taking rice.
I started consuming warm water with honey and lemon as soon as I wake up in the morning. My basic idea is that I want to know whether this idea will work out and help me losing weight. Apart from all this, I work out every day for 20 mins. Please give me tips to lose weight and clear my doubt on honey-lemon-water diet.

Foe 1 kG weight loss you need to create a deficit of 3500 calories . So probably creating a deficit of 500 calories per day should be your target . Add salad to your diet because it contains roughage and gives a feeling of fullness .Fruits are sweet so have calries also so dont take too much , take apples .
Eat every 3 hours in small amounts that will maintain your BMR . Drink at least 8-10 glasses of watwer everyday . Avoid sugar completely .
Most important stick to your schedule .

Thank you doctor. That was really helpful. As far as fruits are concerned, I mostly eat apples, grapes and oranges.
My weakness lies in soft drinks. I feel so thirsty at work that I end up having one glass of pepsi/miranda/ slice everyday. Does it contribute to my weight gain??
How about green tea?
Am doing cardio exercises only.. Will it be effective in losing weight or should I try a particular exercise to lose weight in a particular body part??

In fruits dont take grapes much they have high sugar levels . Soft drinks are empty calories and main culprit behind weight gain , they dont have any nutrients except for sugar so you should avoid them completely .
Still if you want have a diet coke or pepsi . Green tea is said to help in weight loss and there is substantial evidence for that , it is also a great source for antioxidants so you can definitely take it .
Go for cardio exercise in the beginning then look for particular exercises once you have some weight gain.
