Brief Answer:
Natural substitutes and Lifestyle changes

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Greetings from HealthcareMagic.

The cravings for sugar or sweets can be related to various factors and mostly the origin remains to be the lifestyle. You are first required to analyze your routine and figure out the time of the day when the cravings are most strong. Most people have them developed by afternoon, Can we relate to something? Sure we can…. As by this time the blood sugar levels falls and brain send signals for the simplest source of energy, i.e. glucose, and the easiest way is through sugar.
To avoid it, the first and the most important step is to eat multiple meals and all meals should be taken on time, so that the body learns to travel by the biological clock. You are also are required to keep a strict check on what you eat for breakfast. A breakfast which is less for appetite, or has more carbs than protein, would always leave you with sugar cravings by afternoon, as it gets digested easily. Add quality protein and fats to the diet. They delay the digestion and supply small quantities of glucose to the blood. This keeps the brain quiet and cravings don’t develop.

Some simple means to avoid the simple sugars while craving for sweets are:
Eating small and frequent meals.

Combining a sugary food with a fibrous food.

Chewing gums also helps, as they keep the mouth wet with saliva.

Eat a fruit, a piece of dark chocolate or take a glass of fruit smoothie with a tbsp. of organic cocoa ( don’t add sugar to it).

Remove the sugary dips, syrups etc. from the refrigerator, keep them at a place where you can’t see them easily.

Try and engage yourself in physical activities like cleaning or take a walk in fresh air, this would help to take your attention away from food.
The most important thing that you need to be careful about is maintaining the sleep pattern and getting engaged in light physical activities.

Hope this will help.
