Irregular Menses, Heavy Bleeding, Endometrial Hypertrophy, Thickness. Treatment ?

Thanks for posting your query.
Endomterial hypertrophy is a condition in which the lining of the uterus becomes too thick, which results in abnormal bleeding and heavy bleeding during periods. It is often found in obese females and with a history of PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease).
In most cases, Endometrial hyperplasia can be treated with medication that is in the form of hormone progesterone. If the symptoms persist then PCOD should be ruled out.
It is a problem in which a woman’s hormones are out of balance. So ovaries develop more follicles than normal every month. Diagnostic tests are 2 hr GTT (glucose tolerance test), serum androgen and testosterone levels, LH-FSH ratio, prolactin levels, TSH levels, 17-hydroxyprogesterone levels and ultrasound uterus.
You should consult a gynecologist and get progesterone prescribed for your grand daughter but the investigations for PCOD should also be done. If PCOD is diagnosed then specific treatment is required.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
