Is HIV Rapid Test Done Post 30 Days Of Exposure Conclusive?

Question: Hi Doctor

The rapid test result is negative. This is done exactly after a month and in the fifth week. I couldn't get combo test as they don't have a combo kit.

What's the next step. My penis pain is on and off these days.

Thanks for posting your query.

STDs are more than 25 in number.

HIV is not the only disease. Pain over penis is not a feature for HIV, but can occur with other STDs. So consult a STD physician and have your test under his guidance. You may need a thorough examination and investigations.

Rapid test is an antibody detecting test. It has no value on testing by 30 days. Window period for HIV is around 6-8 weeks and may be extended up to 3 months in certain individuals in the presence of an infection. So testing for HIV with Rapid test will be of use only after 12 weeks.

Antigen detecting tests will be reliable by this time to rule out HIV 1.

What's the Antigen testing window period? I am trying to get an appointment but may take one or two days. And I am already in 5th week. Will it still be valid if I take it by end of this week. I am in Toronto.

Not to worry. The results will be available within 4-5 days or even earlier. Prefer DNA PCR (more valuable for diagnostic purpose) rather than RNA PCR (more valuable for prognostic purpose).

Doctors rejected tests saying no risk activity as no oral or vaginal or anal sex and I Can resume sex with my wife.

They said gays and their partners are at high risk here. Most of the strippers are clean in this location.

Intact Clothes and non bleeding kitchen knife cuts are safe. Also they said they haven't seen anyone who got infected by clothed frottage even with nude stripper where oral/vaginal/anal sex or kissing or fingering is not involved. Do you agree doctor? Anyhow I will get tested at 8&12 weeks for piece of mind.

HIV can not be transmitted through casual contact.

Yes they are absolutely correct. HIV can not get transmitted through frottage with clothes on or with a cut due to kitchen knife or through fomites. HIV can be transmitted only when there is an exchange of body fluids.
People who handles cases of HIV knew the epidemiology of that particular area. So their statement regarding the prevalence of HIV among the strippers could be very very low. Even if we consider anybody has HIV all the contact with them are not necessarily be infectious.
Your activity carry no risk for HIV and you need no HIV testing.
