Question: Thank you. I have consistently had a pas result under 1.0. My latest exam showed a result of 1.67. Should I be concerned? Is it worthwhile to take a 4k score exam?

Brief Answer:
Yiu can wait and recheck the levels after a month or two

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns. I would try to help you in best way possible.

The PSA level of 1.4 doesn't necessitate the need for such work up at this level. Normally to rule of prostate tumors, PSA can only predict need for further work up. In tumors the levels are higher than ten folds upto hundreds in progressed cases. Any level above 4 is usually indicated for further work up. As for this moment, you can wait a while before proceeding to 4k scoring or biopsy options. I would suggest to repeat the level after a month or two to observe for any rising trend and meanwhile keep an eyes on symptoms like weight loss or blood in urine or back aches. For urine flow keep using the medications prescribed by your doctor and drink plenty of water if urine outflow obstruction isn't felt or present. Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
