1. Since the dose of thyroxine is individualized on the basis of clinical response and laboratory tests thus regular monitoring of T.F.T. [thyroid function test] is necessary to start/change or modify the dose. So I cannot comment upon the Dosage since your attending physician has considered all the possibilities while deciding the dose.
PS. average full replacement dose of levothyroxine is: 1.7 mcg/kg/day [so you can calculate it yourself or let me know about your weight so that I can give you an Idea about the same]
2. Symptoms which are exclusively linked with hypothyroidism in males is/are: low sex drive, premature balding, weight gain but losing muscle strength, rapid shedding of hair [check with your lipid profile, cardiac test and any other relevant investigation]
3. Before switching to any form of alternative medicine, keep in mind the following:
i. There is no substitute of hormone in any –pathy thus check regularly with thyroid values every 3 months
ii.mTake: iodized salt,sea food,garlic,onions,meat,chicken,salmon,tuna,whole unrefined grains,dairy products,banana,egg,low fat milk,mushrooms,guava, carrots,cucumber,black beans,navy beans,red kidney beans,split beans,black pepper,cinnamon,turmeric,mint,coriander,apple,apricots,olive oil,cherries,dates, kiwi,papaya,pineapple,brown rice,prunes,coconut oil
iii. Avoid: linseed/flax oil,peanuts,walnuts,turnip,green mustard,mustard, cauliflower, peaches, coffee,spinach,cabbage,soybean,canola oil,radish,sweet potato,white bread, white flour, junk food, pears,millet
iv. The main cause of HYPOTHYROIDISM is iodine deficiency, thus iodine containing drugs like shigru, jalkumbhi are advised here.
.Prescription medicine which one can ask for is/are: kanchnaar guggulu, shigru patra kwatha, trayushnadya lauha, navak gugullu, trikatu churan, trifla kwatha
PS. We do prepare one such medicine from garcinia cambogia extract along with above medicine, if interested I can courier you the medicine [results are encouraging]

1. Calculating your BMI [body mass Index] with respect to age/height you fall under 'very obese' category, as such check with parametres like blood glucose, liver/kidney function, and lipid profile. [get a cardiologist opinion]
2. The dose of thyronorm which after calculating your weight comes out to be 170 mcg/day [but your attending physician is in better position to decide the same]
3. So you should continue with thyronorm and on good note do order the medicine which will have overall healthy effect on your outlook [as it works on bad cholesterol, sugar, over weight problem]
