Brief Answer:
Don't worry.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM
Asymmetrical gluteal creases may be a sign of hip dysplasia in one hip. Thigh folds (seperate from gluteal folds) that are asymmetrical as in your baby rarely indicate hip dysplasia unless they are associated with uneven gluteal creases. So, don't worry.
In case, there are asymmetric gluteal folds as well in your baby, then a proper clinical examination by pediatrician and ultrasound of hip can help you to rule out hip dysplasia. It's an easily treatable condition now a days.
Hopefully this will help you. I would be glad to help you out in any further questions.

Hello mam,
What are gluteal folds ? I guess the folds present at the back . at back the folds seems normal and are symmetrical .also I check knee heights ,it also seems normal and leg length is also equal.

Brief Answer:
Highly unlikely case of hip dysplasia
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
That's correct. Folds on back are the gluteal folds. If they are symmetrical and knee heights are also same. Then it's very unlikely to be a case of hip dysplasia.
So, just relax and enjoy your motherhood.

Thank you mam, for the answer ,
I have another query ,
My daughter sleeps thoroughout the day , just wake up for feeding and stay awake for longer strech like for 5-6 hours at night .. Is it normal for infants to be awake for such long hours. She does normal activity in those hours play with her hands and legs , observe things.

Brief Answer:
It's normal
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Every baby has different requirements of sleeping hours. Some sleep for just 8-10 hours and other for 15-17 hours a day. It's perfectly fine as long as they have normal achievement of growth and development. If your baby is recognising you, smiling and trying to hold her head for few seconds, then that means she is on a normal track. So don't worry.
Some infants are night owls (something you may have gotten a hint of during pregnancy) and will be wide awake just when you want to hit the hay. But now, you can start teaching her to distinguish night from day.
When she's alert and awake during the day, interact with her as much as you can, keep the house and her room light bright, and don't worry about minimizing regular daytime noises like the phone, music, or dishwasher. If she tends to sleep through feedings, wake her up.
At night, don't play with her when she wakes up. Keep the lights and noise level low, and don't spend too much time talking to her. Before long she should begin to figure out that nighttime is for sleeping.
Consider starting a bedtime routine. It can be something as simple as getting your baby changed for bed, singing a lullaby, and giving her a kiss goodnight. Give her a chance to fall asleep on her own.
Hopefully this will help you.

Hello Mam,
Thanks for the answer. My nerves are relaxing now. Also just would like to reconfirm.I guess I should just take in notice the knee height and length of the legs for hip development area. As the lines at the back purely depends on my baby's position. As long as the knee heights are equal we are good ?
