Brief Answer: Follows. Detailed Answer: Dear Sir, Thank you for posting your query on XXXXXXX Well looking into your problem I will like to tell you that Dementia is a broad term and has many causes for it like multiple infarctions , vascular causes , vitamin deficiencies etc. Alzheimers disease is also one of the causes of dementia and is the most common form encountetred normally . So both dementia and alzheimers are unrelated and dementia can be because of other causes also . It is diagnosed by having charcteristic neurlogical symptoms , PET scan may show loss of function in temporal lobe and exclusion of other conditions . Take care. Dr. Shruti
