Is High Glucose Levels A Cause For Concern?

Question: HI,
My 23 year old son just went to the ER for what he thought was food poisoning. They administered 2 Ivs with anti nausea meds. They also did blood work. His glucose came in at 190, he had blood work about a year ago and it was fine. They said he should let an MD know the next time he sees one. He is in law school, stressed and working very hard, up late studying, and has admitted to me that he is eating a very high carb diet due to lack of time, etc. Lot's of pasta, pizza etc. Should we be concerned, or will getting his diet under control resolve the matter?

Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
I have gone through the description which you have provided. His glucose levels are high.
I would suggest to get a fasting and post meal blood glucose levels done along with HBA1c Levels these will help determine whether he has diabetes.
AT these levels diet control combined with exercise and weight loss ( in case he is over weight 0 can help to keep the sugar levels under control. The situation is not alarming , but i would suggest that you get an appointment with your doctor to get this investigated
Hope this helps
