Is Hysteroscopy Safe When Diagnosed With High TSH And Prolactin Levels?

Question: Dr Rynne,
I have another question. I'm scheduled for a hysteroscopy tomorrow morning with sedation/anaesthesia to see if there's polyp or abnormal growth in the uterus. however, I've had some stomach problems for the past two weeks and have been on very bland practically liquid diet and taking nexium. I did not go to the doctor but since I had similar thing happen to me before from eating wrong foods I decided to just take nexium. I feel kind of weak and tired from not being able to eat. Should any oh this be a counterindication to not go through the procedure tomorrow? I also had elevated tsh of 5.090o. my blood test and prolactin 25.5? should I be cleared by a doctor for this procedure? the gyno was the one who took my blood tests abdbsaid I should be okay. please advise.

Brief Answer:
None of these are contraindication for the hysteroscopy procedure.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Health Care Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
Your TSH is slightly high. What is the FT4 value. This mild thyroid dysfunction could be the reason for this slightly high Prolactin level. These blood values are not a contraindication for the procedure.
You are feeling week because you are not eating properly. Tomorrow they will give you fluids through IV drip line if needed. This is not a contraindication for the procedure.
I hope this is helpful. If you have further concerns, do write to me. I'll be happy to answer.
Best wishes,
Dr Ramadevi Wani

thank you so much doctor. ft4 was 1.12, vitamin d was 103, testosterone 2.5, sex hormone binding globulin 180. prolactin was actually 24.6 on last test. my stomach is also not 100% yet and I have bleeding hemorrhoids. Are any of these test results show that I could have serious liver or thyroid problems and could need doxte clearance for this procedure? since I'm weak would this be okay to do anaesthesia?
Brief Answer:
If you are extremely week then they may treat your stomach condition first.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Your FT4 is within the normal range . So what you have is subclinical hypothyroidism. For this you need to repeat the tests after three months to see if you need to take treatment.
None of these tests suggest that you have serious liver or thyroid problem. So please do not worry.
Have you seen a surgeon for bleeding haemorrhoids? If it required surgery then both procedures could have been done at the same time.
What is your haemoglobin? Are you so week that you are not able to carry on your day today activities. If so then they may treat the stomach condition first and do hysteroscopy at a later date.
If you have further concerns, do write to me. I will be happy to answer.
Best wishes,
Dr Ramadevi Wani

no I've been going to work and doing everything. just yesterday at the end of work day started to feel weaker and this morning too. but I'm able to function.
I have only seen a gastrointestinal doctor and he said to eat a lot of fiber. I have IBS as my diagnosis.
attached are other blood test results.

hi, I didn't do the procedure. they prescribed cytotec for me to take two pills under the tongue 2 hours before. I took them at 6am EST and almost right away started having severe cramps and some diarrhea.. I couldn't go in pain like that..they didn't explain I would have pain from this medication. I spoke to the doctor and she said I could take Tylenol or advil. I took two Tylenol at 7:25. when that didn't work I took two advil at 8:50. I'm still in very bad pain. worst I ever had. doctor said it's just from medication and will wear off in a few hours. the pain is really bad. what else can I do to make it stop? please help.
Brief Answer:
Take tablet Buscopan, if you have surgery.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Sorry for the delay in replying (was busy with surgery)
I am sorry to know that the procedure had to be postponed because of the side effects of cytotec. But for this side effect you were definitely fit for surgery. How is the pain now? It usually subsides in few hours. If you still have abdominal pain take tablet Buscopan (Hyoscine butyl bromide) 10mg. Use hot water bag over the abdomen. It will give you some comfort.
I hope the diarrhoea has settled down now.
I hope this is helpful.
If you further concerns, do write to me. I will be happy to answer

Diagnostic hysteroscopy is a minor surgery.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Diagnostic hysteroscopy comes under the category of minor surgery.
I wrote saying that 'But for these side effects you were fit for surgery'. Here, I meant that if you had not developed the side effects you would have had the hysteroscopy.
