Is It Advisable To Do Balloon Test In The Rectal Area?
Question: Yes, My gastro dr wants to do a balloon test on my rectum area. There will be straining. Should I have this done since I had a rectocyle, and cystocle and a total hystectomy 0n 2010. I am 80 years old. I have been diagnosed with a damaged rectal nerve/muscle possible from giving childbirth. Thank You
Brief Answer:
Please get this done irrespective of Surgery in 2010.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood the history related to possible rectal nerve cut and childbirth 55 years ago and Surgery of total hysterectomy with repair of rectocele and cystocele.
You have no sensation in the rectal area but a little in anal area.
That your Gastroenterologist wants to do balloon test in the rectum area.
I think, this is a simple procedure, and can be done in your case and may help at least to get a confirmed diagnosis and gives an idea about what best can be done in such a situation.
Please go ahead, this is a simple procedure and will give results irrespective of the surgery done in 2010.
With Warm regards.
